Catching Starlight

This was one of those images that came to me in a moment of inspiration. The song "Cyanide Sun" was playing, and I got a vivid image in my mind of a moth faerie catching the burning light of a dying star.

I was impatient to start and I painted it directly on the panel without sketching it out first. In the end that was a mistake, because I ended up having to sand down the face twice, and background once to repaint it the way that I wanted. She turned out much better in the end, but it took a lot longer than it might have if I spent more time in the planning stage.
